I’m not going to pretend that a consistent blog isn’t a chore-and-a-half. That’s especially true when you’re a busy business owner who might not be in a position to outsource every task. 

 

But here’s the thing–I’m also not going to sugarcoat what comes next.

 

Keeping your blog up and running consistently with fresh and valuable content is a non-negotiable in our digital world. 

 

I’ll get into the why in a sec. But first and foremost? I want to level with you–posting blogs consistently doesn’t need to be as demanding as the world would have you believe. 

 

Here’s what needs to be your focus at the forefront of it all–sharing honest-to-God value with your audience, focusing on quality (over quantity), and sticking to a schedule that’s realistic for where you’re at.

OK, you’ve got the why. Now, let’s talk about the how. If you’re struggling to find the time, energy, or know-how to write and post consistent blogs on your site, these tips are your new go-to’s for getting the job done. 

Batch Your Blogs

It’s not always realistic to set aside an hour or two every single week to write, format, and schedule a blog post. Plus, a lot of entrepreneurs’ brains just don’t work that way (I know mine doesn’t). 

 

The solution? Sit down once every two weeks, month, or quarter and batch your blog content

 

Maybe that means blocking off a single day and writing, formatting, and scheduling all your posts for the quarter. Maybe it means scheduling a batching day once every two weeks. Maybe it means writing them all in one day and formatting and scheduling them in another. 


Whatever schedule works best for you is the right schedule.

 

Give your brain the gift of total focus on a single thing (blogging) once or twice a month. Then, forget about it while you tackle the other (important!) business owner things you’ve got on your plate.

Find a Killer Resource to Lean On

You didn’t start your business to be a content writer or a copywriter. Still, consistently publishing valuable blogs is a non-negotiable for your brand. 
The solution? Find quality shortcuts that help you conquer these goals (without frying your brain in the process).

Get Into a Keyword Research Rhythm

I know, I know, anytime copywriters bring up SEO it’s kind of a confusing mess. You understand the importance (and honestly, probably understand it in practice, too), but infusing SEO strategy into your blogs might be the roadblock keeping you from posting regularly. 

Keep a Running Note of Must-Write Blogs

We always expect inspiration to strike when we’re working at our desks–but, c’mon, it’s rarely that convenient. 

 

Keep a running list of blog ideas on the notes app on your phone so you can refer to it later (you know, when you’re feeling totally tapped out of good blog ideas). 

Personally, I get my best blog ideas (and other ideas, for that matter) while I’m on hikes with my dog. You should see the long list of topics I’ve created in my Notes app–most of them did not come to me during my batching sessions.

Have a Go-To Before You Publish Checklist on Deck

For some people, actually sitting down to write a blog is where the roadblock occurs. 


For others, the obstacle is really in the formatting, editing, and scheduling. 

The best way to streamline this process is to find a Before You Publish checklist that gives you an easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide after you’re done writing.

You can invest in one from a qualified copywriter, or you can make a list yourself! 

Just make sure it covers important checks like the basics (grammar and spell checks), SEO things (internal linking, meta description lengths, keywords), and even formatting checks (like headings and alt-text). 

A reliable checklist is like a “make damn sure” resource that keeps you from accidentally publishing something silly.

Pick a Schedule You'll Actually Stick To

It’s less important that you post *so many times a month* and more important that you post reliably and consistently.


If you’re not in a position to post a new blog every week, don’t do that! If posting once a month is far more reasonable for you, that’s the perfect cadence. 

Ultimately, sticking to a consistent schedule and putting out freakin’ phenomenal content that provides actual value to your audience is more important than throwing any-old-thing up on your site every seven days.

Outsource to a Content Writer or Copywriter

If running a consistent blog truly just isn’t in the cards for you (and trust me, it doesn’t have to be), outsourcing this task to a qualified copywriter or content writer is a must-consider option.
